Bit steep! Road to Amalfi |
Dinner with my hosts Gregory and Anna was everything I had hoped for. A lovely home cooked meal, veges out of their own garden, fresh fruit (from their garden) and homemade red wine and lemonchello. Bellissimo! They lived in New York for 20 odd years, so very good English. Great stories, great evening. Breakfast this morning on the deck, just perfect.
Bus to Amalfi. Now there's an experience! OMG. The narrowest, most winding roads, clinging to the side of the mountain, 800 meters up. I would like to think that part of the bus drivers training goes something like this: if you need to decide whether to crash into a car with one driver or hit that little 50 cm stone wall that has seen better days and is the only thing stopping this bus with 40 passengers from plunging to their death.....choose to hit that car!

Another view from the bus |
That bus driver is so skilled, manoeuvering with just centimetres to spare. If I was in the oncoming car, I would just sit there and go oh my god, oh my god. Cars have to reverse quite regularly just to free up enough space for the bus.
