Day 60, Venice, Italy

View from the bridge
A drive today in the country, to a small town called Bassano del Grappa, known for it's covered bridge over the river Brenta. The bridge originates from 1569, having been damaged and rebuild numerous times, in particular after the Second World War, when it was extensively damaged.

The town is well known for its Grappa, a strong liqueur-like drink, which is a by product from the wine making process. Tradition has it that you have one grappa on one side of the bridge, and then another on the other side. We did have a drink, dad had a grappa , but I thought I'd better not seeing I had to drive back yet. And he piked out at one, couldn't handle a second!
We had a lovely lunch by the river and a walk around town afterwards.
