Day 92, Jerez, Spain

Palacio del Virrey Laserna
The dining room
My last night in Spain for a few weeks as tomorrow I am going back to Portugal. The plan is to leave my car parked up at Bijou's mum (next to Cliff Richards) and then fly from Portugal to Morocco, do my trip and then come back to collect my car. An excellent solution to an otherwise cumbersome problem of where to park the car for two weeks. Great thinking Bijou.
This morning I visited a Palace, belonging to the same family all the way back in 1268, Palacio del Virrey Laserna. The palace has been added on over the years, renovations last made in the 1800's. I did a guided tour and was the only on it,so got to ask all those odd questions that you don't like to ask in front of a group. The house is still lived in to this day, imagine living in a house that has merely been passed down through the generations and never once sold in it's 750 year existence.
The entrance
The First Count of los Andes (the last Spanish Viceroy of Peru) was born here, and the title bestowed upon him in the honor of work done. The title is passed down the generation and currently the 8th Count lives here.
It was great to see an old palace like that still lived in and not merely a museum piece. It's loved and worn and slowly bit by bit restored, like the silk lining in the dining room that was in dire need of repair. A whole new meaning to shabby chic!
